LET IT BE – Clink

On a beautiful, winters gentle, cool and crisp feeling early Sunday morning. This cup was my Mothers, there is a definite feeling of warmth, peace and joy I feel when I think of her and hold this cup. Her faith and love was such an anchor and example for me, her words of wisdom and trust in God an eternal legacy for her family. In 1968 Paul McCartney wrote one of the most famous Beatles songs, it was at a time in his own life and career when all was feeling uncertain for him. It was the end of an era and the very cusp of something new, scary and unknown for him. As he struggled through a night of deep sleep mixed with insomnia he experienced the most wonderful dream of his own mother named Mary coming to comfort him. Paul had lost his mother to breast cancer when he was only 14 and that night the gift and the very essence of his mother came to comfort and love him, so incredibly beautiful. In an interview he shared about it he expressed what peace he felt just seeing her face again, when he awoke he wrote these words to a very familiar and iconic song. “When I find myself in times of trouble, Mother Mary comes to me”.. “Speaking words of wisdom, let it be.” There will be an answer, let it be.” This is one of my favorite songs, how often did my own mom Cathie speak words very similar into my anxiety ridden, fearful and at times anxious heart. Let it Be, there will be an answer, Let it Be…These words feel so gentle, hopeful and reassuring. Three words that leave is all a breathable space to let life be, to believe God has a perfect plan and purpose. To let go with open hands, trusting there will be an answer. My Mom wrote in every card I ever got from her this verse,
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths” (Proverbs 3: 5-6).
Often as I sit in my office I will pull out an old card from my desk drawer from her, in her delightful and perfect written penmanship, these words, Love always Mom, and I smile and feel all her unending love from the inside out.. YM- You Matter
