I DID A NEW THING- CLINK

Good morning and Clink on this fine third Sunday of February. I did a thing yesterday, I fulfilled a goal I had sat for myself of joining a writing group in the new year and so I joined the KWA, Kansas Writers Association. Yesterday was my very first meeting and I felt a little anxious walking into the room and meeting new people, it took me back to that feeling of being the new kid on your first day of school. Not only new people but writers, authors, poets and some who are professionally published. I sat next to a very kind lady who I found out it was her first time at the meeting as well, so an instant connection was made and my anxiety quickly lessened. The tables were set up in a square connected layout so that everyone sat on the outside looking across from one another. There was a presenter and then each member introduced themselves and elaborated on their writing styles. The old saying goes, never judge a book by its cover then I would add to that never judge a book by looking at the author either. The room was filled with a very diverse group indeed and each person had very fascinating and unique writing styles. If it were a game of matching a book, poetry or short story to each face, I simply would have lost on most of them. I sat there and smiled as each writer spoke, writing is so personal, so intimate and sacred it almost felt like a writer’s anonymous therapy session, Hi I am Dianna and I am an impulsive writer seemed an appropriate response when my time came. Finding and seeking a place you fit in, a place to grow and a people who in a lot of ways think and look at life like you do through words, well is just healing and encouraging all in one. I live this Clink life, its community, its connections, conversations, stories and life on the daily, or at least on a Sunday morning of sharing. Hoping you are investing your energy and minutes to something that makes you feel inspired, motivated and fulfilled. Quote by the famous writer, Mark Twain, “Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do. So, throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails… Explore, Dream and Discover”. “You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream”-C.S. Lewis. YM-You matter
